Grand German ensemble comedy “Two to One” will open the 41st Munich International Film Festival

The world premiere of “Two to One” (German title: “Zwei zu eins”) at the Gasteig HP8 will open the festival on the evening of June 29. This second feature film by director Natja Brunckhorst questions the mechanisms of capitalism while demonstrating a sense of solidarity and perfect comedic timing. The compelling ensemble cast is headed by Sandra Hüller, Max Riemelt, and Ronald Zehrfeld.
Oscar-winner Kate Winslet to receive the CineMerit Award

The Munich International Film Festival will this year again have the privilege of presenting two CineMerit Awards. Alongside Jessica Lange, multiple award-winning actress Kate Winslet will be honored for her achievements in the art of film. Winslet will present the European premiere of her film “Lee”, which she stars in and produced. The film will be released to cinemas across Germany on September 26, 2024.
Bold, topical, and timely: the New German Television Productions section
The Munich International Film Festival has established itself as the number-one platform for German filmmaking. Its New German Television Productions and New German Cinema sections place a strong emphasis on domestic productions. This year, ten films and five series in the New German Television Productions section will have their world premiere on the big screen. As usual, the festival will also give audiences a unique opportunity to see celebrity guests in person.
CineMerit for award winning actress Jessica Lange

It is with great pleasure that the Munich International Film Festival announces the recipient of the first CineMerit Award of this year. Academy, Tony, and Emmy Award-winner Jessica Lange will receive the CineMerit in honor of her achievement in the art of film. In the context of the festival, she will, for the first time, also publicly present a selection of her own fine-art photography at the Deutsches Theatermuseum.
CineKindl – A variety of films about the world of young people

The 41st edition of the Munich International Film Festival will give young audiences in particular a lot to look forward to. Programming director Tobi Krell aka Checker Tobi and co-curator Tobi Obermeier will once again present a thoughtfully compiled selection of films for the young and young-at-heart aged 5 and up. The former KINDERFILMFEST MÜNCHEN, a standalone competition section at the festival, will for the first time be held using its new name, CineKindl.
CineCoPro Conference enters its third round: Focus on Canada

FILMFEST MÜNCHEN and the Bavarian Film Fund, FFF Bayern are continuing their successful partnership by welcoming a delegation of 20 producers from Canada to the third CineCoPro Conference as part of the 41st FILMFEST MÜNCHEN (June 28 - July 7, 2024) in Munich. Telefilm Canada and the Canadian Embassy in Berlin are partners of the 2024 edition of the conference.
