Sunday, 27.06.2010, 14:30 | Gasteig - Black Box IDS-PanelALL-RIGHTS DEALS UNDER FIRE German pubcasters increasingly are following the lead of private webs and offering talent all-rights buyouts instead of the individual royalty contracts of yore. A debate sponsored by German actor’s guild IDS. Germany is well-known worldwide as union territory, home of Karl Marx, Social Democracy and the world’s largest labor union, ver.di. But amazingly, the entertainment sector remains virtually un-unionized, and the locals wield little power compared to the powerful Hollywood guilds, for example. Thus the talent associations are left to stage debates, publish guidelines and file petitions, such as the panel organized by acting umbrella org IDS at this year’s Filmfest. The panel consisting of local pols and prominent pubcaster rep Bettina Reitz (Bavarian Broadcasting BR) will debate the hot-button issue of all-rights encroachment on royalties. |

Monday, 28.06.2010, 11:00 | Gasteig - Black Box A Debate by the CSU Bavarian State Senate Faction: 3D – The Future of Movies!?As of 2010, it seems clear the future of movies is 3D. For the audience, the 3D experience is a new and exciting thrill. Films like "Avatar" rule the box office for months, while local 2D productions screen to almost empty theaters. How prepared is the local film industry for 3D movies, what does the new trend mean for producers, distribs and exhibs? Is just a hype that will wear off and fade away? Or are we witnessing a paradigm shift comparable only to the onset of Technicolor and talkies? These are the hot-button issues of the debate with Eberhard Sinner, media expert of the ruling Christian Social Union senate faction, Siegfried Schneider (head of Bavarian State Chancellery), Barbara Schardt (Cluster Audiovisual Media Bavaria), Michael "Bully" Herbig (comedian and director), Dr. Herbert Kloiber (Tele-München Group), Michael Coldewey (Trixter), Josef Kluger (KUK Filmproduktion) and Thomas Menne (Walt Disney Studios). Admission is free. |

Who are they, how did they get where they are, with what training? What is the current state of the business and its future? What effect will the modern media world have on their intellectual rights? Will the internet have the same kind of impact on film music as it did in the rest of the music business?
